QEDMA as an enabler for quantum computing

In this talk, Prof. Dorit Aharonov, Chief Scientific Officer at Qedma, outlines the company’s strategy to accelerate the arrival of commercial quantum advantage through advanced error mitigation software. She introduces QESEM, a solution that significantly boosts the computational power of today’s noisy quantum devices, enabling more effective algorithm development and testing.

The presentation highlights how error mitigation can deliver near-term value, while also emphasizing the importance of combining it with error correction as hardware improves. This hybrid approach is expected to unlock the first real return-on-investment (ROI) use cases in quantum computing, bridging the gap between current experimental systems and future large-scale, fault-tolerant quantum machines.

0:00 so you’re the chief scientific officer 0:03 uh at kma I think that this is your 0:05 mission to accelerate these timeline so 0:08 what is the kadma St regarding the 0:10 timeline where we should expect uh a 0:13 commercial Quantum advantage and what 0:14 are your ambitious uh Ambitions and 0:17 goals uh personally and as a company 0:20 okay thanks for the question so kma is 0:23 set to enable these Quantum advantages 0:25 exactly as as uh as this is this is 0:28 really our goal um much faster than 0:30 expected um so we will soon be releasing 0:33 a product called kissim um it stands for 0:36 Quantum eror suppression and a 0:37 mitigation and it means magic in Hebrew 0:40 um and uh our absolutely amazing team um 0:44 developed this a mitigation Aeros 0:47 suppression software and and the thing 0:49 is that it is able to provide a factor 0:51 of 100 to a thousand in terms of circuit 0:54 volumes um compared to to what you would 0:56 be able to run with a with a on a noisy 0:59 device without without mitigation um so 1:02 this factor of 100 or thousand already 1:04 means that in the very near future we 1:06 will be able to enable our customers 1:08 initial Quantum advantages and uh and 1:10 not much later also broad Quantum 1:13 Advantage um and this will transform the 1:15 field of quantum algorithm design and 1:18 will enable companies to start designing 1:20 Quantum algorithms tailored to their 1:22 needs in an effective way closer to how 1:24 classical algorithm designers work with 1:27 the ability to stimulate and to test 1:29 their qu their algorithms and see how 1:31 they scale Etc um but this is not enough 1:35 um we’re not stopping there at one 1:37 algorithm design because aom mitigation 1:40 and and and the thing is that a 1:41 mitigation alone cannot take us all the 1:43 way to Roi Quantum advantages um which 1:46 is what the companies are eager to use 1:47 of course this is what the the promise 1:49 of the quantum computation Revolution is 1:52 um so we’re very excited we’re extremely 1:54 excited in fact about about our next 1:56 step which is combining air mitigation 1:58 with air correction um once the hardware 2:01 passes the the What’s called the break 2:03 even point that I mentioned and error 2:05 correction abilities start to be even 2:08 mildly beneficial compared to to without 2:11 air correction so airor correction would 2:13 in that point at that point start to do 2:16 more good than harm at that point we’re 2:18 ready to put our combined air mitigation 2:20 and air correction together um and this 2:22 is what will enable the first Roi 2:24 advantages I believe um and I think this 2:27 will already be available in the next 2:30 years um and much definitely much 2:32 earlier than achieving Roi Quantum 2:34 advantages uh with with for tolerant 2:36 Quantum computation alone so so kma 2:39 desires to enable useful Quantum 2:41 advantages in the near future that’s our 2:43 goal and much earlier than is currently 2:45 expected by by the road maps of Hardware 2:48 companies uh using the F tolerance 2:50 approach Alone um and in the long term 2:52 we also in the long term we also intend 2:54 to to expand and develop um in further 2:57 uh directions and components of the 2:59 quantum operating system so kma’s goal 3:01 in general is basically to become the 3:04 enabler of a quum 3:06 revolution basically bringing magic to 3:08 the world uh thank you for joining us 3:10 today professor harof your insights have 3:12 been avable and we appreciate your time 3:14 and expertise thank you Michael thanks a 3:22 lot
