A closer look at how error mitigation can unlock practical quantum advantage on today’s quantum hardware. The work demonstrates how advanced mitigation techniques extend the scale of executable circuits, enabling meaningful computational gains even in the presence of noise and before the availability of fault-tolerant quantum systems.

By introducing the concept of circuit volume boost, it provides a quantitative framework for evaluating these improvements, showing how larger and more complex quantum computations can be performed reliably. These results position error mitigation as a central component in both near-term quantum applications and the long-term quantum computing stack.
