Using QESEM on IBM Quantum Heron processors, researchers resolved complex, long-lived dynamics in a two-dimensional Floquet Ising model at up to 74 qubits, at a scale where leading classical approaches, including simulations on Fugaku, could not produce consistent results. The work was independently cross-validated on Quantinuum trapped-ion systems, reinforcing confidence that the observed physics was not device-specific. Read the announcement

Qedma is a founding member of the Quantinuum Startup Partner Program, and Qedma’s QESEM error mitigation software is commercially available to Quantinuum customers. The integration combines Quantinuum’s high-fidelity, trapped-ion systems with Qedma’s error reduction… technology to help users run larger and more complex workloads while maintaining target accuracy and managing resource use. The integration has been demonstrated on challenging workloads near the frontier of classical simulation, and Quantinuum hardware also provided independent cross-validation for the IBM-Qedma quantum-advantage study. JSR researchers used Qedma’s QESEM error-mitigation software to study point-group symmetries in many-electron molecular wavefunctions on IBM quantum hardware. In experiments using up to 32 qubits, QESEM produced the closest agreement with exact results, with a maximum discrepancy of only a few percent, supporting more reliable quantum simulations for chemistry and materials research. DESY is one of Germany’s largest research centers, conducting fundamental research in particle and high-energy physics, photon science and astroparticle physics.
Cooperation
DESY researchers, in collaboration with Qedma, developed and tested a practical method for extracting statistical properties directly from amplitude-encoded velocity fields, in the context of fluid dynamics simulations. Using QESEM on IBM’s ibm_fez processor, the researchers demonstrated… that central moments and structure functions can be recovered on current noisy hardware. Read the paper
Another work by DESY uses QESEM to demonstrate quantum simulation of lattice quantum electrodynamics in 2+1 dimensions. Specifically the researchers developed an approach to compute properties of the model at different energy scales on the QPU which was demonstrated on real hardware experiments using QESEM. A paper describing the work and experimental results is currently under preparation.

Qedma is working with Hyundai and academic collaborators on a proof of concept for quantum computational fluid dynamics. The project is developing and benchmarking a variational quantum linear-solver workflow for standard CFD problems, with the goal of designing a realistic pipeline which can be run on real near-term hardware using QESEM.

Qedma is collaborating with CTU on research into quantum phase estimation algorithms. The work explores iterative and robust phase estimation (RPE), including the use of VQE for state preparation and more efficient decompositions of resource intensive controlled unitary operations… . CTU teams are investigating how Qedma’s QESEM error mitigation technology can improve the reliability and practical performance of RPE algorithms on today’s noisy quantum hardware.
